Share your server with family and friends
Invite people by email, choose what they can see, and manage their access from one page.
Your server is more fun with people on it. Invites work by email, everyone gets their own profile, and you decide per person which libraries they see.
Invite someone#
Open app.tofa.tv, pick your server, and go to Users. Choose Invite, enter their email address, and pick what they get: everything, or specific libraries.
They get an email with an invite link, and your libraries appear for them once they accept it. The link is good for 30 days. Until then they show as Pending on your Users page, and you can cancel the invite from there.
Nobody is added to your server without accepting first, whether or not they already have a tofa account. If someone loses the email, they can accept from their account page on app.tofa.tv instead. You can send the invite again after 24 hours.
Creating an account
People who don't have a Tofa account can sign up and verify their email before accepting your server invite. If beta signup is at capacity, we'll email them when they can create their account. A server invite does not bypass the signup capacity limit.
What invited people get#
Everyone you invite gets their own tofa: their own watch history, Continue Watching, watchlist, and settings. Nobody resumes in the middle of someone else's episode.
Invited people are guests by default. Guests can browse and watch the libraries you shared, and request titles you don't have yet; requests wait for your approval unless you turn on auto-approve for that person. Guests never see your server settings, your logs, or what anyone else watches.
You can also make someone an admin. Admins help run the server: they can invite people, manage guests, and reach the admin area. Only give admin to someone you'd hand the keys.
Tune access per person#
On the Users page, open a person to change:
- Libraries. Add or remove libraries any time; it applies immediately.
- Role. Guest or admin.
- Requests. Whether their requests are auto-approved, and whether they can request 4K versions.
Remove someone#
Revoking a person's access takes effect immediately. A pending invite can be cancelled the same way before it's accepted.
Limits and quality#
Free servers can invite up to 15 people, Supporter servers up to 200. During the beta every server runs with Supporter limits. Pending invites count towards that number until they're accepted or cancelled.
