tofa for Kodi

If you already run Kodi on a TV box, a Shield, or a small PC, there's a Kodi add-on that connects it to your tofa server. It gives you a full tofa interface inside Kodi: Home, Browse, Discover, Search, title pages with cast and episodes, its own player controls, and settings. It also appears as an ordinary video source, so your library shows up in Kodi's own widgets and favourites.

Playback runs through Kodi's own player, so Dolby Vision, TrueHD and DTS-HD passthrough, and refresh-rate matching all reach your TV the way Kodi normally delivers them.

Built by one of our community members#

A big thanks to one of our community members for creating this add-on. It's a large piece of work. We've worked closely with them and the design follows ours on purpose, but it's a separate project under its own licence, so questions and bugs about the add-on itself go to its project page rather than our support queue. We'll keep helping with the project from our side.

That means questions and bugs about the add-on itself belong on its project page: github.com/cinema-ONE/tofa-for-kodi. If something is wrong on your server, or the same thing goes wrong in our own apps too, come to us as usual.

What you need#

• Kodi 19 or newer. The add-on is developed and tested on Kodi 21 and 22.
• A tofa server on 0.9.30 or newer. Older servers aren't blocked, but parts of the add-on will be missing or wrong rather than quietly doing less, and it tells you so once per session. See keeping your server updated.

Install it#

Adding the repository first is the way to do it, because Kodi then keeps the add-on up to date on its own.

1. In Kodi, go to Settings, System, Add-ons, and turn on Unknown sources. Kodi won't install from a zip without it, and only says so once you try.
2. Go to Settings, File manager, Add source, and enter https://tofa.cinemaone.ch. Kodi can't name an https source for you and won't accept a blank name, so call it tofa.
3. Go to Settings, Add-ons, Install from zip file, pick tofa, then repository.tofa-1.0.1.zip.
4. Choose Install from repository, tofa Add-on Repository, Video add-ons, then tofa for Kodi.
5. Open it from Program add-ons, tofa for Kodi. That's the full interface. The entry under Videos is the plain directory listing, which works under any skin but isn't the same thing.

Sign in with your tofa account the first time it starts, the same account you use everywhere else, and your server and your progress are there.

You can also install the add-on zip by hand from the project's releases page, but a hand-installed copy never updates itself, which is the whole reason the repository exists.
