Invite a friend to the beta

Anyone can sign up for the beta while capacity is available. You can also invite friends from your account; we'll email them when their access is ready.

This is different from sharing your server. Sharing gives someone access to your libraries. A beta invite helps them get their own account, without sharing your library or account details.

Send an invite#

1. Open app.tofa.tv and go to Account.
2. Find Invite Friends. It shows how many invites you have left.
3. Enter their email address and choose Send invite.

They enter the beta admission queue. We'll email them when their access is ready. An invite does not bypass the signup capacity limit.

Use the address they'll sign up with. Invites are matched on the exact email address, so [email protected] won't let them register as [email protected].

Already on the waitlist? Invite them anyway#

If your friend has already joined the waitlist, go ahead and invite them. We keep their existing place in the queue rather than adding a duplicate. If their access is already ready, they can use the same email to sign up.

If the email doesn't arrive#

Your invites are listed under the form. Next to anyone who hasn't signed up yet is Send again, which does not spend a second invite. If they're still waiting for access, they keep their place; otherwise it re-sends the email. It's limited to once a day per person, so ask them to check their spam folder before you try again.

Spend them on people you know#

An invite is spent the moment you send it, and it stays spent even after your friend joins. Two things follow from that, and both are deliberate:

• Check the address before you send. A typo costs you an invite.
• We won't tell you whether an address already has a tofa account. Every address you haven't invited before gets the same answer, because otherwise anyone with an account could type in addresses one after another and find out who uses tofa. Your friend's account is nobody else's business, and neither is yours.

If you're out of invites, your friend can sign up directly. If signup is at capacity, they can join the waiting list.

Your list marks an invite Joined once that person signs up, so you'll know it landed.

Once they're in#

Nothing about your account is shared with them, and nothing about theirs comes back to you. They pick their own password, run their own server, and build their own library. If you'd like them watching your library too, that's a separate step: share your server.
